opening day
On their first game of the season, the Boston Red Sox were crushed by the Texas Rangers. The game started off on the wrong foot when Jon Lester (the strongest starting pitcher we have) gave up a home run to the first batter Texas sent to the plate. I had a feeling the game was going to be high scoring after that. We did a good job of scoring runs when we had to. Kevin Youklis had a clutch two out double in the first inning and David "Big Papi" Ortiz hit a home run to tie the game in the eighth. However, Daniel Bard (my favorite reliever) gave up FOUR runs in the bottom of the eighth. And that made all the difference. Texas won 9-5. As disappointing as the game was, I realize this is why I am a Red Sox fan. Because even when the Red Sox lose, they play hard. They are workers. The cats and I will be watching today's game with our fingers and paws crossed, hoping for win number one.
