colorscope

Does your birthday fall between September 23rd and October 23rd?  If this is the case, then you are a Libra.

John Coltrane is a good example of a Libra personality.  There is a terrific site called Colorscope that describes Libra people as "connected to the intellect and the arts, particularly music, there’s culture, refinement and grace. Libra is a beautifully light and gentle sky streaked with an occasional songbird. Its color is pale blue..."  This is what John Coltrane's Colorscope looks like:

His main sign is Libra (pale blue).  He also has a Pisces Ascendent (lavender) and an Aries moon (red).  Click here to read more about John Coltrane's Colorscope.

odd jobs

Because I'm a huge fan of Roald Dahl's books for children (especially George's Marvelous Medicine), I decided to give his adult work a whirl.  I'm about half way through "The Best of Roald Dahl" and I'm in love.  His short stories are wonderful, wicked, and beautifully written.  For instance, "Royal Jelly" is about a beekeeper and Dahl masterfully weaves this unusual profession into the plot.  The beekeeper got me thinking about other interesting occupations. After a little research, I found this terrific list of thirty-seven weird jobs.

Some of my favorites include: dice inspector, dog food tester, golf ball diver, crocodile wrangler, and fortune cookie writer.  Click here to view.

for authors, fragile ideas need loving everyday

This is one of my very favorite articles about writing.  I read it for inspiration, particularly on days when I don't feel like putting the pen to the page. Click here to view.

Roald Dahl

Ernest Hemmingway

Anne Lamott
