singing lessons

I started taking singing lessons!  When I walked into the Hollywood Academy of Music, I noticed I was the only student in the building who was old enough to drive.  I felt a little silly that my 32 year old self was sitting in a tiny chair, waiting with kids who were being dropped off by parents and nannies.

Then I met my teacher Crystal.  She didn't think it was weird that I was an adult who wanted to learn how to sing.  She asked me why I was here and I told her "TO HAVE FUN".  Crystal smiled.  We worked on some breathing exercises.  Hummed a view scales.  And then, I got to tell her about the kind of music I love.  She smiled again and we made a list of songs I'd like to learn.  I am already looking forward to my next lesson.

Hallelujah I Love Him So - Ray Charles
Bring It On Home To Me - Sam Cooke
Angel From Montgomery - (I particularly love the way Kristen Stewart and Emile Hirsch sing this song in the movie "Into the Wild")
I Think Its Gonna Rain Today - Sidsel Endresen

Have you heard the Susan Tedeschi version of Angel from Montgomery? Everything she sings is so rich and hearty... like a pot pie. :)
    Have fun! xo
