a quote for the new year
"I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes.
Because if you are making mistakes, you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You're doing things you've never done before, and more importantly, you're Doing Something.
Whatever it is you're scared of doing, do it.
Make your mistakes, next year and forever."

making the most out of christmas
I think holiday shopping can be arduous. Overwhelmed by the list of presents to be purchased, I rush and rush to get everything done. Whether it's clicking on "buy now" buttons or whipping through crowded stores, I'm not enjoying myself.
Today, I'm doing things differently. I'm going to get my hands dirty and turn on some music and make presents with my six month old son. Stay tuned to see our holiday ornaments made with love for family and friends.

winston, clementine, and marigold
According to Colorscope, Winston Churchill is a Sagittarius and his main color is orange. After a little research, I discovered that his wife was named Clementine and his daughter was named Marigold. Churchill surrounded himself with his Colorscope colors. Isn't that a neat connection?

notebooks
Two new notebooks.
I love this gang of cats, especially the small one, so I wrote a caption for him.
"Don't worry, little guy. You're protected."
With this notebook, I covered it with terrific wrapping paper.
On the first page, I wrote,
"I gather my ideas like a jelly maker, simmering words into jam."

Here's the cover of my first board book.
I made it for The Racecar.
We visit the Silver Lake Library on Monday mornings and
I thought he'd enjoy reading about things we do together.
At the library
We sit on the rug.
We look at books.
We dance! We sing!
We learn how to count.
We listen to the librarian.
We shake our shakers goodbye.

memorizing poetry
I follow the wonderful blog CUP OF JO and we were challenged to memorize a poem. Oh, how I love this idea! When I was a girl, I memorized Shel Silverstein's "Clarence" and can still recite all of the words by heart.
This week, I've decided to memorize "The Trouble with Poetry" by Billy Collins.
Do you have a favorite poem?

board book kit
After reading The Happiness Project, I was inspired to follow a passion. At the moment, two of my passions are the racecar and books. So, I put these ideas together and decided to make a book for the racecar. I purchased a board book kit at Target and started to collect my ideas.
A blank page has so much potential.
Stayed tuned for more...
ps. Do you have a passion that you'd like to follow?
