new writing studio

To make room for the little racecar,
I switched my office from the front of the house to the back.
Here's a few pictures of the space:

my wonderful desk

a few favorite books

and an orange kitty who loves our new room

untitled poem

as summer approaches
i cover my face
wanting to find
my own quiet place
to lay my head
on a cool, crisp sheet
why can't i have
a nap that's complete
without all this light
and sunshine and cheer
when will it leave?
never, i fear
i want to sleep
for all of the day
so nighttime come quick
please don't delay
your pale moons and gray
skylines above
in darkness i rest
peaceful, in love

new studio

As a result of my little racecar on the way, I needed to move my writing studio from the front of our house to the back.  I was hesitant to do this because I loved my original office so much, but I think the change as been good for me. I found inspiration in framing new pictures for the wall above my desk.

Pictures clockwise starting in middle: sketch by my sister Miranda Maxwell, watercolor of The Little House, illustration from "A Child's Garden of Verses", the lighthouse at Beavertail, school pictures of me and my husband (ages 5 and 7), Baily's Beach, envelope decorated by my mom, Save the Date for my wedding (artwork by Miranda Maxwell)
